This Saturday, January 28, Tecumseh Dance Theatre Company will present their annual dance performance. Come experience the mesmerizing artistry of the dancers as they show us how “Love Can Change the World.”
Tecumseh Dance Theatre Company (TDTC) is the Premier Dance Company of Tecumseh Dance Workshop (TDW). In 2012, TDTC had several milestones. Ballet Mistress Annamia Rumley set most of Act 3 of the 200 year old masterpiece by Marius Petipa, "Le Corsair." In 2013 portions of Petipas' "Sleeping Beauty" were set and in 2014 TDTC performed portions of the classical ballet "Giselle." In March 2012, the dance company attended Cathy Roes Presgious "Ultimate Dance" competition. Dancers and Teachers won numerous awards including Judges Lincoln Center Award and Excellence in Ballet Technique. TDTC Executive Director Deena Bryan garnered many awards including Top Choreography for her modern piece "Storm." Her piece received Highest Overall Score, Judges Choice Award for Best Precision, Most Graceful, and Highest Overall Teen Score. "Storm" was also chosen to perform at Cathy Roes Ultimate Dance Nationals in Ohio. In 2013 Deena Bryan also received Highest Overall Score for her piece "Facades." Dancers were awarded 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place "Miss Ultimate Dance." In the past five years, dancers from TDTC and TDW students have been chosen for summer work with major dance companies such as American Ballet Theater, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Hubbard Street Dance, Ballet Met, Cincinnati Ballet, New York City Ballet, Saratoga, Joffrey Ballet training program and its International Exchange program with the Bolshoi Ballet, North Carolina School of the Arts, Interlochen, Point Park University, and Oakland University. Dancers have worked with choreographers from the Michigan Dance Project, Eisenhower Dance Ensemble, Peter Sparling, and Joe Briggs from the Pittsburgh Ballet Theater. Tecumseh Dance Workshop is one of five local dance studios who partner with and perform at Tecumseh Center for the Arts. Other dance studios include Dance Steps Studio, Encore Dance Studios, Infusion Performing Arts Academy and Monroe Street Theatre Dance Company.
