Tecumseh Center for the Arts (TCA) is excited to announce the return of Lightwire Theater to Tecumseh Center for the Arts on Saturday, February 12 beginning at 4:00 pm. Come witness this dynamic performance of The Adventures of Tortoise and Hare: Next Gen.
“We’re thrilled to bring Lightwire Theater back to our community,” stated Kelly Jo Gilmore, director of Tecumseh Center for the Arts. “We had them perform Dino-Light in 2014 and Moon Mouse in 2016, both shows were performed to a sold-out crowd. Since then, we’ve had many requests to bring them back – so we were finally able to do that this year.” The Adventures of Tortoise and Hare: Next Gen features Aesop’s classic fable of The Tortoise and the Hare but continues the story which finds them 10 years down the road, now with children of their own and exploring modern day distractions. Smart phones and video games create a new landscape of lost connections to life experiences. With dazzling visuals, poignant storytelling, and the creative use of music from classical to pop, this production brings this tale into a brand-new light. Lightwire Theater has been hailed as “Absolutely Amazing,” by Rolling Stone magazine and “An eye-popping display of storytelling like nothing else you’ve seen,” by BroadwayWorld.com. These entertainers are internationally recognized for their signature brand of electroluminescent artistry, poignant storytelling and musical scores designed to evoke imagery. In 2012, Lightwire Theater was featured in America’s Got Talent which launched them into the national spotlight. Since then, Lightwire Theater has been fortunate to travel internationally, sharing their unique brand of storytelling with audiences of all ages, cultures, and backgrounds. A special thank you to this year’s sponsors: Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs, Vision Performance Group, Kiwanis Club of Tecumseh, Robert Fox – Howard Hanna, and Martin’s Home Center. Tickets for this year’s performance are $30 for adults and $25 for seniors, youth, and military members. Tickets can be purchased online at www.TheTCA.org, by calling 517-423-6617 or stopping by the TCA Box Office located at 400 N. Maumee Street in Tecumseh, Michigan.
