Tecumseh Center for the Arts closes out its TCA Summer Series with a performance by Fiddlin’ Dixie and the Treblemakers on Saturday, August 24.
You may have spotted Fiddlin’ Dixie, aka Dixie Andres, in local jams and festivals in the Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana areas. Dixie enjoys playing in different styles such as folk, bluegrass, country, rock, and has even tapped her fiddle into jazz and Finnish folk music. She isn’t just a “Fiddlin' Dixie,” however. She also enjoys playing the Harmonica, Banjo, ukulele, and Mandolin, gitfiddle - any stringed instrument, really. Fiddlin’ Dixie will be joined onstage by friends and fellow musicians Rob and Joni for a folk, country, and bluegrass three-part harmony show called Travelin’ Light. This vocal trio blends guitar, fiddle, and acoustic percussion to create a Simon & Garfunkle-esque harmony. Don’t miss your chance to celebrate the summer months with the TCA while experiencing amazing talent in a cool atmosphere. The lobby opens at 6:00 pm with a variety of refreshments including beer and wine. We will also be offering a free ice cream social during intermission. Tickets are $10 each. Tickets can be purchased by phone at 517-423-6617, at the box office located at 400 N. Maumee Street, Tecumseh, Michigan, or on-line at www.thetca.org. Like the TCA on Facebook and keep up to date on the cultural entertainment and live performances scheduled this summer and beyond! This year’s TCA Summer Series is part of the TCA Michigan Homegrown Project and is sponsored in part by Mechanical Extremes and the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs (MCACA).
