This Saturday, January 28, Tecumseh Dance Theatre Company will present their annual dance performance. Come experience the mesmerizing artistry of the dancers as they show us how “Love Can Change the World.”

Tecumseh Dance Theatre Company (TDTC) is the Premier Dance Company of Tecumseh Dance Workshop (TDW). In 2012, TDTC had several milestones. Ballet Mistress Annamia Rumley set most of Act 3 of the 200 year old masterpiece by Marius Petipa, "Le Corsair." In 2013 portions of Petipas' "Sleeping Beauty" were set and in 2014 TDTC performed portions of the classical ballet "Giselle." In March 2012, the dance company attended Cathy Roes Presgious "Ultimate Dance" competition. Dancers and Teachers won numerous awards including Judges Lincoln Center Award and Excellence in Ballet Technique. TDTC Executive Director Deena Bryan garnered many awards including Top Choreography for her modern piece "Storm." Her piece received Highest Overall Score, Judges Choice Award for Best Precision, Most Graceful, and Highest Overall Teen Score. "Storm" was also chosen to perform at Cathy Roes Ultimate Dance Nationals in Ohio. In 2013 Deena Bryan also received Highest Overall Score for her piece "Facades." Dancers were awarded 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place "Miss Ultimate Dance."

In the past five years, dancers from TDTC and TDW students have been chosen for summer work with major dance companies such as American Ballet Theater, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Hubbard Street Dance, Ballet Met, Cincinnati Ballet, New York City Ballet, Saratoga, Joffrey Ballet training program and its International Exchange program with the Bolshoi Ballet, North Carolina School of the Arts, Interlochen, Point Park University, and Oakland University. Dancers have worked with choreographers from the Michigan Dance Project, Eisenhower Dance Ensemble, Peter Sparling, and Joe Briggs from the Pittsburgh Ballet Theater. Tecumseh Dance Workshop is one of five local dance studios who partner with and perform at Tecumseh Center for the Arts. Other dance studios include Dance Steps Studio, Encore Dance Studios, Infusion Performing Arts Academy and Monroe Street Theatre Dance Company.

Tickets for Love Can Change the World are $16 for adults and $12 for seniors & youth. Children five years old and under are free. Click here to purchase tickets online. Tickets can also be purchased through our Box Office located at 400 North Maumee Street in Tecumseh, Michigan, or by calling 517.423.6617.

Kiwanis Club of Tecumseh offers guests the chance to travel the world through their annual Travel and Adventure Cinema Series. This is their 37th season of offering an exciting travelogue film series to support the work of the Kiwanis Club of Tecumseh.

So ... you might be asking yourself what is a travelogue? Have you ever wanted to get a birds-eye view of a place or travel destination you heard about on the radio, TV or through a beautiful ad in a magazine? Travelogoues provide an opportunity to truly see a place from a seasoned traveler's eyes.

The audience gets a professional prepared presentation, usually a movie, which is personally narrated by the cinematographer who made the movie. You see large and small cities, the residents and of course, the personality of that destination. You will experience tours through the countryside and all the big and little stops your favorite travel agent would book for you to experience.

If you've already traveled to one of the destinations, you may want to confirm again the grand sights you were able to take in. You may even discover what you missed. An evening at a travelogue may prove for you or a guest that "we need to go again!"

Your attendance also assists Kiwanis Club of Tecumseh for their many projects serving youth and the community. You'll find the 2016-17 travelogues to be wholesome, educational, and adventurous for a truly enriching experience.

With just 4 of the 6 films remaining in this season, you'll want to be sure you purchase your tickets soon. Each film is just $5 each. See the list below of the four remaining films:
  • Tuesday, January 10 at 7:30 pm - "Cuba's Secret Side"
  • Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at 7:30 pm - "Tibet: A Light in the Darkness"
  • Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at 7:30 pm - "East African Safari"
  • Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at 7:30 pm - "Great Rocky Mountain RV Adventure"

Tickets for each of these films can be purchased at Tecumseh Center for the Arts. You can purchase them Tuesday-Friday from noon until 5 pm by stopping by the Box Office or calling 517-423-6617. The Box Office is located at 400 North Maumee Street in Tecumseh, Michigan.
