Mosaic Theater
Abigail Gilmore & Lucie Weeber
Picture
This was the first-time painting something like this together. We wanted to paint a board that represented the theater and thought the mosaic, puzzle design showed the inclusiveness of theater, representing all the pieces that come together to put on a show or production.  We also wanted the colors to represent the opposites of warm (red) and cool (blue),  the ying and yang of art, showing the diversity of all blending together.
Multicultural Frida
Lynde Bryan
Picture
Frida Kahlo is well-known to all as an artist and is recognized by her unique look.  Making a multicultural version makes her any one of us. Coming together as a community and supporting each other during this pandemic is what this piece means to me.

Mamma Mia!
Julie & Megan Donovan
Picture
Megan and Julie Donovan have been involved with the Tecumseh Youth Theatre for 6 years. This year Covid 19 cut the season short for TYT. The high school musical, Mamma Mia was not able to be performed. Many seniors lost their opportunity to have their last show. Megan came up with the idea of painting the Playbill to honor those seniors and everyone in the cast and backstage. The performing arts are magical. We truly miss seeing the amazing talent on the TCA stage.

You Are Not Alone In This Uncertain Place

A collaboration between two brothers living in some of the most uncertain times, this piece is a reminder to ourselves and our community that we are never truly alone.
We Are All Branches of the Same Tree
Re-Tree Tecumseh
Picture
This collaborative piece was created by 12 volunteers from ReTree Tecumseh, ranging in age from 7 to 75. It is a reminder that, despite our differences, we are all one human family. As such, it is our collective responsibility to love and care for the planet we all depend upon for life. Trees are a crucial part of the global ecosystem: they create oxygen, filter air pollutants, reduce storm water runoff, lower urban temperatures, and provide food and habitat for birds, pollinators, and wildlife. By planting new trees and preserving existing trees, we can have a positive effect on the environment right here in Tecumseh. Pay it forward – plant a tree!

White Deer of Tecumseh

We are looking to give a nod to the town's past without overtly overstepping our bounds of the Native American traditions and imagery. From the Tecumseh Indians as a HS mascot, to the care and inclusion of an Indian burial ceremony for the white deer that roamed freely, Native American culture and/or traditions have always been something that has been woven through the community. The dream catcher is a symbol of all things living in harmony and respect.

During the early days of the pandemic, my friends and I were not able to hang out like we would have liked, so I created a selfie to remember what we like to do together.

Wonder
Ian L. Thomsen
Picture
The universe is a place in which to wonder and life is a window to do so. Personally, I think that finding wonder in the vast mosaic of the cosmos and realizing that we are connected to even the furthest reaches of reality is one of the most human emotions we can ever feel.
May You Dance
PLDeere Studios, Patricia Deere
Picture
May You Dance is an idea that stemmed from a project intended to be used at Art Prize a few years back. Like all of us, things can sometimes get in the way, which happened to me.  Two brothers passed away that year but the project has not been forgotten. This was a perfect opportunity to bring a little piece of it back to life and to paint!  Painting is something I haven’t done in a while, except when I paint on glass. Through my stained glass work, I spread the messages of Hope, Healing, and Happiness. These emotions make me feel like dancing and I hope others do too. My wish is that people have fun with this dancer during this time that is often difficult to manage. So get your dance on! Strike a dancing pose and post it on social media using these hashtags: #mayyoudance #pldeerestudios #tcastreetarttrail
