Tecumseh Center for the Arts brings Pure Michigan to its stage this summer with their Black Box Summer Series scheduled for the fourth Thursday of June, July, and August at 7:00 PM.
June 22 will feature Voices in Harmony, an award-winning chapter of Sweet Adelines International, a world-wide singing organization for women. Come kick off our summer series with this all female a cappella group plus TCA ice-cream social! You might even recognize some community members singing with this group. On July 27, a family show featuring Michigan Avian Experience will grace the TCA stage. Michigan Avian Experience was created to capture our innate fascination with birds and flight. Using non-releasable, wild native Michigan raptors (owls, eagles, hawks) as teaching partners, the organization will give an educational and entertaining show to our patrons. Some of the birds will actually fly above our heads through the auditorium. Closing out the Black Box Summer Series on August 24 will be pianist and songwriter Matthew Ball. Also known as The Boogie Woogie Kid, the attorney turned musician now has over 3.7 million views on social media! A national touring artist, Matthew performs favorites from the Swing Era plus much more. Matthew presents an upbeat program of piano Boogie-n-Blues, Jazz & Rags that will certainly have patrons dancing in the aisles. Come experience hot talent in a cool atmosphere during this summer’s Black Box Summer Series. The TCA lobby lounge opens at 6:00 pm with a variety of refreshments including beer and wine. Tickets are $10 each or you can buy tickets for all three shows for just $25; a $5 savings. Tickets can be purchased by phone at 517-423-6617, at the box office located at 400 N. Maumee Street, Tecumseh, Michigan, or on-line at www.thetca.org. Like the TCA on Facebook and keep up to date on the cultural entertainment and live performances scheduled this summer and beyond! This year’s Black Box Summer Series part of the TCA Michigan Homegrown Project and is sponsored in part by Flatlanders Sculpture Supply and Art Gallery, the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs and the National Endowment for the Arts.
