This April, the entire family can enjoy family-friendly music by The Verve Pipe right here in Tecumseh, MI! Ranging from playful to poignant, the lyrics of A Family Album awaken the child in all of us. With fun, whimsical ditties about “Cereal” and “Suppertime!” and lines that teach kids how to be superheroes, this show is not to be missed!
Tecumseh Center for the Arts (TCA) is proud to partner with Old National Bank to bring The Verve Pipe to the TCA stage on Saturday, April 16, 2016, at 7:30 pm. Formed in Michigan in the early 90’s, The Verve Pipe is best recognized for their hits “Photograph,” “Hero,” “Happiness Is,” and the #1 single, “The Freshmen.” After an eight year hiatus, they were asked to submit an original song for a compilation album of children’s music. That session inspired A Family Album, their critically acclaimed introduction to the world of children’s music. In every performance, the Verve Pipe highlights the joys of being a kid, eases the process of growing up, and helps us all celebrate the little things in life, as evidenced by the following song lyrics from “Cereal”: “I could survive on cereal! Bring me a spoon! A wooden spoon, a silver spoon, a plastic spoon!” Bring your entire family out to the TCA for this fun, light-hearted concert. Tickets are $15-20 and can be purchased online at www.TheTCA.org, by phone at 517.423.6617 or in person at the TCA Box Office located at 400 N. Maumee Street in Tecumseh, Michigan.

Special Guest Writer: Joanna Gall The band Humming House is taking their party on the road – literally.
With an album title of Revelries evoking scenes of lively and noisy festivities, celebration, and merrymaking and songs indicative of travel, movement, and freedom, Humming House invites us in. Tecumseh is privileged to be a stop on their journey across the country. Join us in a celebration of life, creativity, inspiration, and the passion of these musicians. As NPR’s Larry Groce says in a review of their single “Great Divide,”: "You can't help but admire the infectious hootenanny thrown by the folk band Humming House…with its unamplified instrumentation and rousing chorus (reminiscent of The Lumineers and Of Monsters and Men), the anthemic acoustic rock song captures the excitement of the unknown…” So are you ready to whoop it up, get down, hang loose, and paint the town red? The party is coming to Tecumseh Center for the Arts this Saturday, March 19 at 7:30 pm and we cannot wait to celebrate with you. “I Am A Bird”, so let’s “Fly On” – across the “Great Divide.” “Run With Me” away from “This Hell Where We Belong.” We’ll “Hitch Hike” on a “Freight Train” towards the “Atlantic” and “Carry On” with “The Love That We’ve Made” out of nothing but “Nuts, Bolts, And Screws.” Tecumseh Center for the Arts (TCA) is shining the spotlight on YOU - Tecumseh’s talented citizens. Whatever your unique ability is – juggling, singing, dancing, acting, hypnotism – you can light up the stage at the TCA special event Tecumseh’s Got Talent on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 7:30 pm.
Auditions are being held Monday, March 14 and Tuesday, March 15 at the TCA. Auditions are open to individuals who live, work, or play in the greater Tecumseh area and are ages 10 and up. Participants may perform in up to two acts. Routines featuring lip sync-ing or singing along with a pre-recorded lead vocal will not be permitted. If you are singing with pre-recorded music, it must be a karaoke style recording. The time limit for auditions is five minutes, although some exceptions may be made. Personal equipment (tapes, CD’s, amps, guitars, etc.) that you plan to use in your performance must be brought to your audition and to dress rehearsal. The TCA will provide lighting, music stands, chairs, music play-back, and microphones as necessary. A piano is also available for use. Download the audition form by clicking here. Forms should be submitted prior to the audition dates, if possible. Audition times will be given on a first-come, first-served basis.
