Tecumseh Center for the Arts (TCA) is the recipient of several grants from Michigan Arts and Culture Council (MACC) for its 2024-2025 Season.  $27,900 has been awarded to the TCA for Project Support, Facility Improvement and Equipment Purchase, and Professional/Organizational Development.

The TCA has received a Project Support Grant in the amount of $12,000, which will be used for our National Touring Season, featuring concerts and performances from artists throughout Michigan and across the country. The 2024-2025 National Touring Season includes comedian Myq Kaplan; the Circus Science Spectacular; vocalist Lola Kristine; Bernadette Kathryn and her Rock’N Country Christmas Show; comedian Michael Palascak; R&B artist Sharrie Williams; Celtic band CrossBow; and retro-music show Pure AM Gold. This year marks the 44th season for Tecumseh Center for the Arts and we are deeply grateful for this MACC support.

“This is a spectacular season of incredible artists. We are so excited for these wonderful shows,” stated TCA Executive Director Amy Slupe.  “This Michigan Arts and Culture Council grant award is what allows us to bring nationally celebrated artists to our stage at affordable ticket prices, making the arts accessible for everyone.”

In addition, MACC awarded a $15,000 Facility Improvement & Equipment Purchase grant to the TCA. These funds will be directly applied to the purchase of a new audio system, refreshing the theater’s sound and greatly enhancing the performance experience for artists and audience members alike.

The final $900 award for Professional/Organizational Development will allow Executive Director Amy Slupe the opportunity to attend the Midwest Arts Expo (MAX). This presenters’ conference provides a wealth of educational seminars as well as offering invaluable networking experiences with hundreds of fellow presenters, national touring artists, and agents from across the country. Slupe notes, “MAX is a truly invaluable experience. I am profoundly grateful for this funding that will allow me to expand my presenter network and bring expert industry knowledge home to the TCA.”

Michigan Arts and Culture Council is the State of Michigan’s lead agency charged with developing arts and cultural policy and grant-making in the State of Michigan. Since 1966 with the creation of the Michigan Council for Arts, the State of Michigan has recognized the value and importance of a vibrant arts and cultural sector.

MACC funding is foundational to keeping the arts alive and thriving here at the TCA.
