Tecumseh Center for the Arts (TCA) is honored to announce the award of $39,100 in grant funding from the Michigan Arts and Culture Council (MACC), supporting the organization’s work from March 1 through December 31, 2026.

This investment includes:
  • $16,000 in Project Support
  • $21,900 in Facility Improvement Support
  • $1,200 in Professional Development Support

These funds will play a vital role in advancing the TCA’s mission—bringing high-quality performing arts to the region, maintaining a safe and modern facility, and strengthening leadership to better serve the community.

A Defining Moment for the Arts in Michigan

This year’s grant awards carry extraordinary significance. In the wake of the closure of the National Endowment for the Arts, arts funding across the country faced deep uncertainty. The future of statewide support—including MACC—was placed in serious jeopardy.

In response, the State of Michigan took decisive action to preserve and sustain its commitment to arts and culture. That leadership ensured that organizations like the TCA could continue to serve their communities without interruption.

“This funding represents more than support—it represents stability and a belief in the essential role the arts play in our lives,” said Amy Slupe, Executive Director of the Tecumseh Center for the Arts. “We are profoundly grateful to the State of Michigan and to MACC for ensuring that the arts remain accessible, vibrant, and central to our community.”

Investing in Community, Creativity, and Connection

As a cherished home for local artists and arts organizations, the TCA serves as both a cultural anchor and a welcoming gathering place for residents throughout Lenawee County and beyond. This funding will allow the organization to:

  • Present an engaging and diverse National Touring Season, bringing world-class artists to Tecumseh
  • Improve backstage infrastructure to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality productions
  • Invest in professional development that strengthens organizational leadership and long-term sustainability

Every performance, every improvement, and every opportunity made possible through this funding reflects a broader investment in community vitality, economic development, and quality of life.

Gratitude for State Leadership

The Tecumseh Center for the Arts extends its sincere thanks to Governor Gretchen Whitmer, State Representative Nancy Jenkins-Arno, and State Senator Jeff Irwin for their leadership and advocacy in securing this critical support.

Their commitment ensures that the arts continue to thrive—not only in major metropolitan areas, but in communities like Tecumseh, where access to cultural experiences enriches lives and strengthens connections.

Community Impact

With this support, the TCA looks forward to a dynamic and impactful 2026 season—one that celebrates artistic excellence, fosters community pride, and ensures that the performing arts remain an essential part of life in our community.
