KIWANIS CLUB OF TECUMSEH
TRAVEL AND ADVENTURE SERIES

The Kiwanis Club of Tecumseh has been presenting the Travel and Adventure Series for over 20 years. We trust that you will find our travelogues to be genuinely wholesome, as well as educational, and adventurous for a truly enriching experience.

TECUMSEH POPS ORCHESTRA and COMMUNITY CHORUS

HISTORY - The Tecumseh Pops Orchestra was established in 1981 to foster, promote, and increase the musical knowledge and appreciation of our citizens. The Tecumseh Community Chorus was established shortly thereafter, providing additional diversity to our musical repertoire. Since then, the Orchestra and Chorus have presented two shows per year – the Holiday Concert on the first Sunday in December, and the Spring Concert on the first Sunday in May.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH - In addition to our semi-annual concerts, small ensembles have formed from within the orchestra, and perform in various locations throughout the year. Most years, you will find the brass quintet performing before the Holiday Concert in the Auditorium lobby. In addition, many have taken part in the Civic Auditorium's annual Talent Show, and performed during Promenade the Past, a week-long celebration of Tecumseh's history.

Since 1996, the Tecumseh Pops Orchestra & Community Chorus have provided two scholarships per year to deserving music students. These scholarships are designed to encourage participation in the Arts by providing funds to attend music camps, receive private lessons, or attend workshops. Requirements for eligibility include active participation in either the Orchestra or the Chorus. Recipients are normally announced and receive their scholarship at the May concert.

MEMBERSHIP - The musicians of the Orchestra, and the vocalists of the Chorus come from all walks of life. Teachers, retirees, medical and business professionals, students, homemakers, and many other professions are represented within our membership. All have various musical backgrounds, from performing professionally to singing in the shower. There is one driving force that brings us all together, and that is the love of music . . .

New members are always welcome! Weekly rehearsals begin approximately 8-10 weeks before each concert. To join our mailing list, or if you are interested in becoming a member of one or both groups, contact us at:
